Group Therapy
Group therapy provides a powerful way to connect with others working through the same issues. In some cases, group therapy has proven to be just as effective as individual therapy. For parents, teens and children, for individuals on the spectrum, those with learning difficulties, disabilities and ADHD, just to name a few, group therapy can provide an excellent connection to like-minded individuals, whilst learning and practising skills and a nurturing and empathetic environment.
Group therapy helps individuals develop communication skills and socialization skills, and allows clients to learn how to express their issues and accept criticism from others. Group therapy allows individuals to develop self-awareness by listening to others with similar issues. Typically groups comprised of 6-10 individuals. Participants usually feel open to express their beliefs, thoughts, and emotions without fear of judgment or retaliation.
The benefits of Group Therapy include:
The development of a like minded support system
Help to move forward
Development of appropriate social skills
It can be cost-effective
Group therapy can help you find your voice and help you reveal more about yourself as you listen to others who have similar issues.
The development of good, healthy friendships that tend to last and extend outside of therapy
A Safe Place to be heard. Group therapy ensures that all participants can talk about their individual experiences, opinions and beliefs without ridicule, retaliation, or disrespect from other group members or therapists.
Learning from peers. When participants are able to connect with others who they can relate to, they are more likely to learn new ways of dealing with their problems and more willing to take advice.
Unity. Being aware that there are others in your community that are also struggling or have challenges like yourself can be a very powerful tool in recovery and overcoming life's obstacles. The knowledge that you are not the only one and are part of a collective can be very therapeutic for many individuals.

Referrals and Fees for Therapy
Medicare
The Australian Psychological Society 2021-2022 recommended schedule of fees has sent the standard 46 to 60 minute consultation fee at $280. It is important to us to provide an affordable service so our fees are set below:
MEDICARE / PRIVATE FEES
50 minute Psychology Consultation $220
50 minute Psychology Consultation (Provisional) $150
Individuals looking to receive psychological support may seek a referral from their GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, which will provide them with up to 10 Medicare funded psychology sessions per year under the Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Clients being seen by a General Psychologist under the MHCP are entitled to a Medicare rebate of $92.90 per session. The Redefini fee for a standard appointment is $220 for a 50-minute session, and your out of pocket expense would be $127.10.
Concessions may be made for clients experiencing financial difficulties or are engaging in long term psychotherapy. This may include a concessional fee negotiated with the psychologist or bulk-billed fees. All cases for fee reduction must be discussed with and agreed to with the psychologist prior to service. A referral from a medical professional requesting bulk billing does not automatically entitle an individual to a bulk-billed service.
An application for fully-funded or partially funded services can be made to Redefini Collective: An online form coming soon. In the meantime, please email the clinic via the contact us form.
A review from your GP Paediatrician or Psychiatrist is required after 6 sessions, this will then allow you to request another 4 sessions.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
NDIS FEES (per NDIS price guide)
We accept NDIS referrals both self-managed and plan-managed. The number of sessions per year will be tailored in accordance with your goals, NDIS plan and budget. Depending on the type of therapy required, we use (and do not exceed) the allocated NDIS fee.
Redefini is not a registered provider with the NDIA and is therefore not regulated by its provider policies. However, the NDIA can approve the use of funds for clients accessing psychological services from Redefini if your plan is approved through a “Self-Managed” or “Registered Plan Provider” process. Please note that it is NOT possible to use your NDIS funds for psychological services at Redefini if you have an “Agency Managed” (NDIA) plan.
To use your NDIS funds to access our psychology services, you must agree to our terms and conditions. We will also require you to sign a service agreement. Key points to consider:
We require payment for the psychological consultation before or on the day of the appointment.
Payment of fees is the responsibility of the client – the client must arrange their own reimbursement of funds with the NDIA or Registered Plan Provider after the psychological consultation is complete.
Depending on the maximum amount determined by your NDIS Plan for psychology appointments, there may be an out of pocket expense that is the responsibility of the client to pay.
If the Registered Plan Provider has not paid the amount owing prior to, or on the day of the appointment, the outstanding amount will be invoiced to the client for payment, not the Registered Plan Provider.
Self-Funded
Clients may, however, choose to self-refer without being on the MHCP and pay full sessional fees.
Private Health
Individuals with Private Health Insurance may be entitled to receive rebates when seeking psychological treatment. It would be helpful to check with your Private Health provider on options available to you.
